Welcome to Michigan.

So alot has happened on the car, and I know everyone wants to see pictures, always with the pictures. We're not really behind, but there is only one week left and we have to drop the car off just south of 8 mile tomorrow to get the rest of the cage welded in. A buddy of Darnell's is going to do it as a favor. Thanks Bob.

We tried to get the car down there tonight, but with the rain and having no lights, no plate, no seatbelt and really nothing street legal at all, we decided to call it a night. We got as far as Curtis' house and started to make the trek to 8 mile and Telegraph, but then Darnell called it off. Bob went to sleep.

Here's a video of me driving between Gian and Curtis. I couldn't really explain what was going on because I was wondering if I was just to old to being stuff like this, but we managed to pass two cops that didn't even look at us.

We didn't really get the car down there, and the cage didn't really get itself welded in. We're going to finish up the main things and hope that he can do it next week.

So here's a recap of whats happened in the past couple weeks. We got alot of the engine bay cleaned up. Tore out the A/C lines and condenser. Swapped out the old shifter linkage and even got the old bitch to start! Imagine that.

Super extension, that's how we do it on this car.

Then it was roll cage time. We spent most of that Saturday tacking in what we had with Gian's Mig and then notching the tubes that didn't come already notched with a ban saw. Both tools did the job, but I mean were used to creating beautiful works of art with shitty tools all day at work!

The roll cage went in much easier than I envisioned. I even got to throw down a little on the welder. This is what a total of $178 in the hole (up from the original purchase of $300) looks like with the good help of a couple friends. I think I'm making money on this project...

Those little boogers along the right side of the plate are my first attempt at the mig. Yee Haw underwater welding school here I come!

No can opener at the house? No problem. Boys need their beans.

What's Curtis doing on the roof with that cutting wheel? Why installing the taillight of course!

So were up against the wall now trying to get this thing it's finished welding done with less than a week to go. Even the fun no budget projects have stress involved. One last pic of this beast...

Oh yes, Lug rusted into the hub. Welcome to Michigan! I find myself saying alot around this car.
